Faculty
Syed Bulent Sohail is Managing Partner of Sohail & Partners, LLP. He is an Advocate of the High Court’s holding more than 20 years’ legal and regulatory experience and holds graduate degrees from Canada (BA-LLB) and UK (PGDCL/Diploma).
He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada. Prior to establishing Sohail & Partners, Bulent was associated for
several years with a leading commercial law firm, at Karachi (Orr, Dignam & Co.) and a partner at Hassan & Hassan (Islamabad-Lahore). He has also served as senior legal counsel to Engro Corp. and company secretary and regulatory affairs officer to Engro Foods Limited, Engro Foods USA and Canada.
Bulent has considerable experience in corporate law, commercial law and dispute resolution. He serves as the national legal expert for the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan on anti-money laundering, countering financing of terror and countering proliferation financing.
He has considerable experience working closely with regulators at Islamabad including the Competition Commission of Pakistan and Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan. He has closely worked with US Dept. of Commerce, Commercial Law Development Programs in Pakistan and has been appointed the country investigator by the Office of US Public Defender Service to assist them in various legal proceedings in the US involving Pakistani or dual nationals.
Bulent is a SIMI qualified Mediator and has conducted over 130 mediations and conciliations.
He serves as Member of SECP insurance dispute resolution committee. Bulent has represented clients in domestic and foreign arbitration (ICSID, LCIA and ICC) and has assited in enforcement of foreign arbitral awards in Pakistan.
